The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
