The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
