The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
