Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay charity and disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
