Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
