Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
