He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
