The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
