Nay, by the Moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 in Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
