The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
