Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
