Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
