The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
