The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
