The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
