The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
