The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
