And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
