The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
