Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
