Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord. 1 It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute. 2 He is God in the heavens and the earth; He knows your secrets, and what you publish, and He knows what you are earning. 3 Yet every time a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they turn away from it. 4 and so they give the lie to this truth now that it has come unto them. In time, however, they will come to understand what it was that they were wont to deride. 5 Have they not seen how many a generation before them We have destroyed whom We had established on the earth such as We have not established you? And We poured out on them rain from the sky in abundance, and made the rivers flow under them. Yet We destroyed them for their sins, and created after them other generations. 6 If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!" 7 They say: "How is it no angel was sent down to him?" Had We sent an angel down the matter would have come to end, and they would have had no respite. 8 And had We made him an angel, yet assuredly We would have made him a man, and confused for them the thing which they themselves are confusing. 9 And indeed before your time (O Muhammad!) many a Messenger has been scoffed at; but those who mocked at them were encompassed by the Truth they had scoffed at. 10
