Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting – for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 And (for) those who avoid cardinal sins and indecencies, and forgive (even) when they are angry. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
