The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
