The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
