The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled. 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
