The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
