The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ These are verses of the Qur'an,-a book that makes (things) clear; 1 a guidance, and good tidings unto the believers 2 Who establish worship and pay the poor-due and are sure of the Hereafter. 3 We make their deeds attractive to those who do not believe in the Hereafter, so that they may wander in perplexity. 4 Those are they for whom shall be an evil torment. And in the Hereafter they shall be the greatest losers. 5 And verily thou art receiving the Qur'an from before the Wise, the Knowing. 6 (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." 7 So when he came to it a voice was uttered saying: Blessed is Whoever is in the fire and whatever is about it; and glory be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds; 8 O Musa! surely I am Allah, the Mighty, the Wise; 9 Now cast your rod!" But when he saw the rod writhing as though it were a serpent, he turned his back in retreat and did not even look behind. "O Moses, have no fear. Messengers have no fear in My presence, 10 as for those who do wrong and then do good after evil, I am most forgiving, most merciful. 11 Now put your hand into your bosom, and it will come forth shining without any blemish. (These are two of the) nine Signs to be carried to Pharaoh and his people. They are surely a wicked people." 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. 14
