The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
