The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
