The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
