Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is split open, 1 And when the stars shall be scattered, 2 when the oceans are gushed forth, 3 And when the graves are laid open, 4 then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter. 5 O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord 6 Who created you proportionately and fashioned you 7 In whatsoever form He listed He constructed thee. 8 Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds). 9 Lo! there are above you guardians, 10 Generous and recording, 11 They know whatsoever ye do. 12 The virtuous ones will live in bliss 13 And indeed the sinners are in hell. 14 They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment, 15 And they shall by no means be absent from it. 16 And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? 17 Again, what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice! 18 A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. 19
