Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
