The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
