He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
