The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
