Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
