The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
