Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
