CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
