The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise and give warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
