In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
