The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
