The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
