۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Are we not then to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
