These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 "We are ruined, 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74
