Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 Thamud, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 He plunged the villages 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
