The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
