By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 we fed not the needy, 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
