The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
