And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
